ive got some of that 3 in 1 stuff but it soaks in, and on the topic of oil and planes, im using it to get rid of all the rust on it, and how much does any one think a record No 4 smoothing plane with tungsten steel blade would cost
I'd say around $200 with the tungsten blade. A #4 with a standard A2 blade runs around 150 or better.

WOW  i got it of my grandma for nowt!! its all rusted over on the irons and the base, but the lever cap is in pretty good nick, the handles need to be stained and/or laquered, would a fine grit sand paper be good for getting rid of rust with a bit of oil?
