I have these steel trusses from a chicken house and would like to use some of them to increase the height of the roof up to 16 ft. The original span of the trusses was 40 ft but after cutting and rearranging the trusses the span will only be 24'. The post/trusses will be spaced every 8', bolted to concrete piers and using 2"x4" purlins and furring strips. Overall, the shop will be 24'x32'. I have attached a jpeg showing the truss and a sketch of what i would like to do. Honestly, I am just wanting to know if this is possible or should I not even think about it. I was originally planning on using two 2x6's (screwed together) as the posts, but seeing as I have enough of these things to just cut and weld, it would save me some money. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
