are there any advantages or disadvantages to the attic exhaust fans that are placed on the sides of the house near the gable to the ones that are on the top of the roof? I have a truss style roof and the attic is not useable for storage or anything. Right now there is only two vents on the back side of the gable roof for ventalation and screens on each end of the gable that run on the botton of each roof plane. I was thinking of putting in one of these types of fans to help remove the hot air and any moisture that may find its way there. Would one of these be a good idea or would something else be better?

thanks for any input.

You are correct! The more ventilation you have in the attics space, the better. What you have to watch is the balance of supply and exhaust. Typically you introduce fresh air around the soffit area and exhaust towards the top. If you increase the exchaust capacity, make sure you also increase the fresh air supply capacity.
