stucco prep?

Hello,

I plan on stuccoing over a concrete wall, do I need to use anything on the wall, like special paint or bonding agent, or do I just apply directly on the concrete?

Other question: I also plan on applying faux stone veneer on block foundation, do I directly apply the stone to the block or is there a bonding agent required for adhesion or even a need for mesh?

I would think for both applications expanded metal lath would be the best. Don't quote me on that though - as I've never done any stucco. The cast stone manufacturer will typically have their own set of installation guidelines (I used Coronado stone and they suggested metal lath).

The faux stone veneer probably has a published installation criteria. If it is a warrentied product I would not advise changing it. If it is like most that I have seen there is a mastic type adhesive used. Bonding agents or any mesh products may interfere with this type of glue.
