We are looking to add a new 30ft x 40ft detached garage. The location currently has an old concrete 24ft x 30ft slab used as a basketball court. It has been suggested that a new slab can be poured directly over the existing slab with curb and raft footings around the perimeter. Will this result in significant cracking at the edges of the old slab beneath the larger new slab? Location is midwest with cold winters and hot summers.
