My wife and I are currently remodeling 2nd flr of our house. Just finished
adding 2nd story above garage and plan on finishing out unfinished area of attic.
That being said wanted to understand the "basic's" of sizing heat/ac units
and duct work.
Purchased Hvac Calc the home user version. However both units seemed to be extremely undersized based on sqft guidelines. If I change the temp inputs to the extreme I come closer but the temp. would never get close to those?
Some of the inputs:
2000 sqft
Indor temp: 72/68 summer /winter
Relative Humidty:55
Outdoor:100/18 summer/winter
summer grains of moisture 107
Daily temp rage: high
Air infiltration: summer: .4 winter: .75
Construction tightness:avg
Based on those inputs:
total heat gain:31,450
total heat loss:32,534
I know there are lots of other factors that affect those numbers however, I
have performed it twice and stiil come up with those results.
Has anyone used this program that might have some input?
I do plan on having a contractor come out and perform a manual J & D, just
wanted to understand/learn what they are talking about.
