Electrician is running power from my house to a 1500 sq ft metal building, hes got the main wires running over, in 1.5 inch PVC conduit, this is trenched in 30 inches, before I fill the trench and after the inspector comes out, I wanted to know if I could run 1 inch PVC conduit with cat 5 and RU6 in the same trench, any issues with that??

Yep, actually this is exactly how it's done in Nova Scotia all the time. Just make sure you separate the two conduits as much as possible to avoid any interference on the low voltage. And also ensure you follow all the backfill codes in your area too (crusher run, marker tape, etc.)

He must be running only ~60A or less then....?

yes less than 60 amps, and thanks, not sure what a crusher run is, but it has the red marker tape

Okay yeah judging by the conduit size, anything larger would be a tough pull.

Crusher run is basically just like really fine gravel mixed with some limestone powder so that it packs well. This is usually put down first in the trench (4"), then the pipe, then 4" on top. It allows some flexibility around the pipes if the ground shifts. It's usually more critical for a main service run to the house.

Only 60 amp?

Trust me you'll be wanting more.

Ask me how I know....
