I am in the process of building a 14x16' Spa room as an addition to a vacation home. I have several questions that maybe someone can give help on.
1) The floor is going to have premium indoor/ oudoor carpet, so do I need to worry about moisture under the carpet if it gets wet from the hot tub? If so, hot should a drain under the spa (6'x7' dimensions) or some other method be used to do so?
2) The room will have a raised ceiling of about 12', so should I consider putting a humidistat/ fan in the ceiling? The room will have 6' slider windows on all 3 sides, but I dont know if there will be a moisture problem even with that.

If anyone has any input into these concerns, please post reply.
Thank You in advance.

I don't know the 'technically' correct answer, but here goes anyway. I have a mudroom with 'similar' worries, so I painted the subfloor before putting down the indoor-outdoor, for extra protection. In your case, I would consider putting plastic down first. And the fan would definitely help, too.

I have worked for 15 years in the spa industry and ALWAYS recommend a non-absorptive base fort he spa. For example: tile, vinyl, etc. When you get 4 people into a spa water almost always will splash over the edges as people move around. In addition, people drag a lot of water out of the spa when they leave to get a drink, use the bathroom, or are finished using the spa.
Unless you want a stinky room, forget carpeting.

What if the spa leaks. They are not infallable. Install a drain unless your room can hold 400 gallons of water!

I'll give a thumbs up to the fan idea. I have a hot tub room in my basement that I haven;t finished yet. I'm definitely installing a fan in there. I'm thinking of doing a three-way switch with a humidistat.
