Hello!

I need to know if somebody have used construction planning softwares like MS Project and Primavera which allows constraints for activities progress dependency over each other.

This is important in larger projects like roads and irrigation networks where the work progresses linearly and their progress are reported on linear or kilometer basis. A successor activity can not have more progress than its predecessor - does any software allow this without creating a lot of sub-activities for a similar task like earthworks, concrete lining or sub-base material laying and compaction etc.

Your views are welcome.

Best regards,

Mohsin Iqbal

I can almost guarantee that the functions in MS Project will not be capable of it. Well it has completion constraints on predecessor activities - but if you don't see the error it won't tell you.
Primavera has a report that it can print out or view on screen an out of sequence activity report. Essentially when you update the schedule with a new data date or you have updated percent completes you can run the scheduling agent and check for quite a list of items.. out of sequence work, late activities, etc. P3 definately has the greatest feature set. It also allows for different types of billing / updating - percentage based or you can resource load it with money and resources and bill off it that way.
P3 is highly recommended by me if you have the money to buy it ($3500)
