I am about to beging finishing my basement. I had the front yard excavated to facilitate a daylight basement I then had some holes cut in the fondation wall for said windows. Mostly the windows are pretty straight forward. However vapor barriering up gainst concrete has raised some questions in my mind. I have heard vapor barrier from ground level down below your wood framing then back up the other side. Ground level is about 6'6" on one wall so I would almost have a plastic wrapped wood wall but mosture in the wood structure and surrounding enclosed area could escape out the top and through the concrete. If any moisture gets trapped it think it would be bad, ie. rot.
I have heard construction paper on the concrete then wall/insultaion then regular vapor barrier. Sounds easier and better to me as moisture would be able to escape through the paper more readily than through plastic.
The easyiest option is leave the crete bare and build.
Any other ideas, suggestions, comments, critisizms.... appreciated.
