I am currently in the process of beginning to build a house for myself. I plan on doing a majority of the work my self with the exception of a few things like plumbing, drywall, and insulation. I have heard figures of between 50 and 80 dollars a square foot to build it myself. I am hoping to stay around 50-60 dollars a square foot. Any idea if this is a reasonable guesstimate on cost. Thanks
50-60 might be a little light - it might be around 70. Then again that really depends on the materials you end up using.

$100 is on the cheap end for my area... and don't forget the F ups that you'll experience from the lack of experience.

The price of wood/materials goes in one direction only, and you know what that is. Practically, no matter what you figure, it will probalbly be too low. Pessimistic, maybe - - realistic, definitely.
