I working on my blueprints for the home I will build next summer. On the window and door openings, there are numbers like 2852(window) and 3068 on the door. What is the correct way to read these rough openings?
Those are not rough openings... they are the finished dimensions of the door or window. The first numbers will be the width and the last will be the height. 2852 - Finished width = 28" Finished height = 52". By 28" it will vary plus or minus 1/4" depending on manufacturer. The actual window or door supplier will tell you what the rough openings are for each of their products.
I apologize for the above post. It was just pointed out to me that I gave wrong information. The 2852 should be 2'8" x 5'2" and not 28" x 52" and the same goes for the door. 3068 (standard door) 3'0" x 6'8". In my haste to post I made a mistake.. hmm.. first one this month.

He Heh, I would have just deleted or edited the post instead of posting a correction. :)
Post count man.. post count. LOL. I was always taught to own up to my mistakes.. :D and I figured if I just made a correction to the post the original poster wouldn't notice the error - as it wouldn't show up as a new post.

I always tried to fix my mistakes as quick as possible so I wouldn't catch my old mans back hand! Ouch!
LOL
I worked for my old man for many many years. Then when I started my company I hired him to help with framing, electrical, and plumbing. It was a great day when I got to ask him "So... how much are you worth?"

I didn't work with my old man, but I helped him remodel a few houses as a kid. I have pics of me at age 5 with a hard hat and sledge hammer taking down a wall.
Recently my dad was out of a job and asked me for work. He was willing to do anything from office work to chauffeuringme around. When he asked this I told hime I would talk it over with my boss then took it upon myself to post his resume on every job web site known to man, and a few that wern't!

Thanks for the correction. I would have felt pretty stupid looking for windows and doors without the correct information.
No problem. I'm glad HarryC noticed my mistake.
