Does anyone know anything about transferring a Real Estate License from one state to another? I ask because I plan on getting my Real Estate License in Ohio (because I'll have nothing but time during my senior year of school, due to the final class I need only being offered one quarter out of the year).

However, I plan on moving to another state once I graduate and land a job in one of my preferred states. So, is the transfer process as easy as filling out paper work, or would I need to take the required classes all over again in order to obtain the license from a new state? Thanks in advance.

It depends. Might be as simple as filing for a license transfer. The worst case will be you will have to take a new test in the new state. No way will you have to take new classes.

Call the Real Estate Commission that will be holding your license. They will be able to tell you what the state you are moving to will require. Or your instructor might be able to tell you.

Good luck on the test. It's not quite as hard as people scare you into believing it is. I made a 97 on my first attempt.

There are a few states that have a reciprocal license - no exam needed fill out the paperwork for the new state and start selling real estate.

You will probably have to take the state portion of the test for Ohio.

The general section is standardized.

I've got mine in Indiana, and it's good in Florida too. Unlike what others have said, you will most likely have to take the course over again due to diferentiating state laws and codes that change in the curriculum from state to state.

Pardon the link to another form but you may find help on the RE Agents Online forum... You may find you will indeed likelly have to retake the training depending on where you are/going, some area may have update/refresher courses that are specific in scope to the differences between the two states but not likely (too much work for em')
