my first post...

i am building a 30'x30' cabin (or going to try) I have already had the cement slab poured and the rough in plumbing done.
I would like a 8/12 roof for a nice loft, the cabin will have a 10x10 bathroom. metal roof. any body got any ideas on what this will cost? just a rough estimate skeleton would suffice for now.. thanks

Minus the foundation - somewhere around $70,000 as a WAG.

haha... I was assuming all finishes and everything. By skeleton I thought you meant no breakdown on the estimate :)
Typical cost would be 100/sf for finished home. And then I took off 20k for foundation.
If the foundation is already done and you're just looking for dried in state.. walls, windows, and roof? No siding - just sheathing? Insulation? Exterior trim? Answer those and I'll get a "skeleton" estimate for you :)

Did you change you name during the move from Bandera to San Antonio? lol

If you are doing all the work yourself, I would say that $7,000 would cover the materials that you need to do those things, but shop wisely.

For the framing you're probably looking at around 6-7 / sf for framing and metal roof (typically 12 but floor is already done). Add to that a door (150) and a few windows (200 ea)... possibly around 8000. If you have a 7500 bid for materials and labor - I'd jump on it.

the guy that did my cement slab , quoted me the 7 to 8k range . He has a bunch of lumber, that is why cost sounds so good.. anyone ever use metal framing? what is the general opinion on metal framing for a 30 by 30.? the reason i ask is i want to know if i can span an6/12 roof across 30 feet and have a great loft or would only metal framing span that far???
