I will install 1/2 foam insulation ,then typar under board & batten vertical vinyl siding. Do I need to install horizontal 1/2" furring strips 12" OC first ,then fill inbetween with the insulation?
thanks

Rip off the battens and you have a smooth surface. If you did want furring strips for some reason, I wouldn't know why, leave the battens there and use them as your furring strips.
Nice to see ya join us over here Gaint!

Thanks Grumpy.
I guess the pictures in the Certainteed installation guide may have confused me. Its not hard to do.
So , furring strips are only used on a surface you cant nail to or is uneven?
And I can nail vinyl right over the 1/2" insulation & typar?

Wow, what a terrible drawing!

Correct, just make sure to use nails long enough to penetrate the sheeting. The Certainteed tip about vertical expansion is a good one.

doesn't think much of vinyl siding, it's job security though, I'll be by in 10 years to fix all the hidden water damage
