As the question states, my house has no overhangs on any edge of the roof. The house gets rather warm in the summer, partially due to excess sun exposure.

My question is - Can I build eave extensions on to my existing roof? I could provide photos of the house to better clarify, but I thought I'd ask first.

TIA

Yes it's possible.. should be able to remove your fasica and scab or sister extensions, then tie in the sheathing and roofing material. The roofing tie in will probably be more difficult than the framing.

What Rich said.

I find it amazing that in a climate as wet as Seattle they would build houses without any eaves. Seems like you would want all that water to fall as far away from the siding and windows as possible.

Show us some pics and we can probably give you more detailed advice.

My (in progress house) had no eaves the way it was built. Little 2-3" tails were added with 1x's. The eaves were still too small to actually allow any vents.

In my process of rennovating the entire place, I added rafter tails to extend the eaves out 13.5", and now we have plenty of room for venting the eaves. Looks a lot better too. I'll try to dig up a photo and post it.
