I am trying to run down the reasons why I have low pressure on the hot water supply. I had a plumber install a hot water recirculating system a while back. Only recently my wife has noticed that the hot water pressure is significantly lower. I tested it with a gauge and the water pressure drops 20+ PSI when I open a tap on the hot side.
It was suggested that the recirculating loop is the source of the problem. Its a 1/2" line that runs approximately 70' from the far side of the house back to the water heater. Included in the recirculating systems is a low pressure recirulating pump, an expansion tank, automatic airpurge and double check valves on either side of the pump.
All seem to be functioning properly.
