As I stated in another post I am putting together a business plan. What type of overhead could I epxect to run into if I decide to start/run a company?
P.S. I'd use subs so I don't need to worry about equipment YET!
Office Equipment
Software
Phones
Cell phones
Internet
Lawyer
Advertising / Marketing
Accountant
Office Staff
Office Space
Tools / Tool Repair
Garbage
Cost of bidding
Client Lunches
Anything that isn't directly associated with the work being installed on a single job.

There is new web based software that will give you an exact dollar amount that you should charge for your overhead to make sure your covered. In actuality your overhead percentage should change on every job. I found this site that was suggested to be by one of my suppliers very helpful. {link removed} I hope you will take time to consider this more accurate way of covering your overhead, which has helped my company greatly.[/b]

Don't forget
Tickets to pro/college sports
Big barbecue grill for tailgaiting
RV to carry big barbecue grill
Sponsorship of little league team
Vocational/technical school affiliation
Boat for client fishing trips {plus living near the ocean I always warn people to be wary if I call them "chum"}
Uniforms, promotional jackets, t-shirts
Think big sponsor a Nascar team {I can just see a Smurf blue colored car with Grumpy's in script on the side & hood roaring around the track in Loudon NH}
on a serious note - Benefits
cost of bidding - fuel, mileage
If you're caucasin, married & truly trust your wife, make her the President of the company so you can advertise & bid work as a "minority owned bidness".
