I am finishing my basement and have a question about receptacles and switches. I am trying to save some money on my electrician, so i went ahead and installed the receptacles in the boxes before he comes back again, but now I read that you should not install receptacles or switches until the drywall is installed and finished. Is this true, should I un-install the receptacles and then re-install after the drywall is installed?

You will definately need to remove the outlets and shut off power (if it's on) to drywall. Most often drywallers will use a rotozip to punch out the receptacle and switch openings as they put the drywall on the wall. If your outlet is in it will get damaged and make it near impossible for the drywaller to do their job.
