We have bought out 3 acreas and will be spending a lot of time on it.
Mostly camping while figuring out just where to site the cabin, etc.
We've stayed in many campgrounds where the sites, including tent pads, are gravel surrounded by pressure treated wood or a type of metal ring.

Can anyone give me the low down on what type(s) of gravel I should lay down to provide good drainage, as well as how deep the gravel should be?

I am thinking I will be burying drain pipe below the gravel to carry away any water from heavy rains.

Thanks for any advice,

Jeff

Should have typed "bought our 3 acres"

Also this area will continue to be used even after the cabin is built.

I would suggest 3/4" round rock. And for depth I would think 3-4" would be plenty. I would probably find a slightly sloped area so you wouldn't have to put a drain pipe under it... then put down a landscape fabric, then the border, then level with the gravel.

Thanks Rich.
I was thinking that 4" should suffice.
It will be slightly sloped, so I guess I can save a little $ on not using drain pipe.
Landscape fabric is a great idea too!
