Hi,

Any recommendations for drilling into solid rock, possibly granite (but maybe not)? At Home Depot rental they recommended a Hilti TE 76 ATC Drilling System, which will apparently do the job chop-chop, but its expensive. Can't buy one either. The next level, a Hilti TE 15, was like $594. I am drilling 1/2" holes, 6" deep, and have about 90 to do. I can't expect to do this over the weekend, and the cost to rent for the time I need will get near the price to buy one. May need in the future. Anyway, if anyone has suggestions, I need to find something asap. Please advise.

Cheers

Once you are done with using it, one place to offer it for resale would be to rock climbers.

I ended up finding a great tool on ebay. Bosch 11233evs. Got it brand new for $350! It has been doing quite nicely. Of course, we found out that a portion of our ledge is actually covered with dirt at least 6 feet deep, so we'll have a mix of traditional sunken posts & some on footings as described. Hey, I get to rent a post-hole-digger. Ah, the power!
