Hey all, first post here yay.

Ok so I'm not a big construction guru but I like doing it and learning along the way.

Just finished shingling the new garage and now need to install the windows and the tar paper. Now the question is the tar paper around the window.

I've seen contrcators for other houses put a strip of tar paper under the bottom edge of the window and then on the sides and the top put the paper over the edge (lip?) of the new window. Now is this correct or should I be doing this a different way?

Any input would be awesome.
Thanks!

This does a much better job that I can explain it in type :)

Most window manufacturers will have a similar detail.

Ok, just finished putting the tar paper around the window opening, just want to make sure that I'm doing it right before I put the window in. Here are some pictures of what I have done already, might be a little big, I haven't resized stuff in a long time, sorry :-/

Hmmm...little bigger then I thought they would be, sorry again.

There is no edit function so I can't fix them either :(

Geesh - glad you bumped this.
It looks just fine. After you install the windows (most likely will have an installation flange) - go over the flange with a self-adhesive membrane on the top and sides. The bottom should be ok - but it wouldn't hurt to put it there too.
