Hi,
I just got some under-counter halogen lighting units for my kitchen cabinets. I have hard wiring coming out in three places under the cabinets- for each light (switched), but no outlets & the lights have plugs. Can these be hard-wired easily or would installing outlets be better? I was trying to find lights especially made for hard-wiring, but I have not been able to find any. I don't even know if they sell them that way or not. Thanks

Best to install an outlet off your 'feed' hard wire, then plug your lighting circuit into it. Second resort, - - not as 'code-worthy', - - is to cut off the plug end and 'splice' onto your hard-wiring. Be advised those undercab halogen lights run awful hot, - - don't leave them 'un-attended'. Xenon lighting runs somewhat cooler, but of course $$.

Tom's right. The only legal way to do it it to install a recepticle and plug them in. Either that or get a different set of lights, designed to be hard-wired.

Thanks guys. I really like the halogens, but maybe I'll exchange these for some Xenons or flourescents tomorrow- preferably the hardwire type if I can find them.
