Hi,

I just laid a ceramic tile floor and finished the grouting of the joints. Everything looks great but is still a small haze over the tiles. I have used tile cleaner that says it gets rid of grout haze but it does not seem to be working. Can someone recommend a solution to eliminating this haze or does it just take time and wash after wash after wash?

I laid the tiles, waited for adhesive to dry, applied grout, waited 10 mins for grout to dry a little, went back over tile with wet sponge to remove excess grout, tooled the grout lines a little, let dry some more then got rid of all excess grout, waited few hours then gave them a good cleaning - after they dried - grout haze appeared and still has re-appeared after washing a couple more times. Is my process correct?

Thanks for any help.

Rick

My God! You've done it all wrong!!!! Tear it up.
Nah! just kidding. It looks like you did everything right. It just takes awhile for that haze to rub off. Some colours show it more than others. After awhile apply several coats of silicon to the joints so they are not as porous.

You did well. Rest easy.

Yeah, it'll 'wear' off after a while, - - next time while your grouting keep a damp sponge handy and lightly 'wet' the faces of the tile in the area you're working in before rubbing the grout around, - - it'll make the grout less likely to 'stick' to the face of the tile.

Also, if it's a real porous tile, you would want to 'seal' the tiles first.
