Hey Rich and Dragon. I see you guys are in here too. Well, now that the roof isn't leaking, back to work.
I am building a 4th bedroom in my house. I just installed baseboard and 1/4 round. I painted them before I installed them. I set the nails about a 1/16" below the surface. What do I fill the holes with before I touch them up with paint.
Thanks,
Doug

I actually have a can of this in my shop. I painted with latex. The directions say, "Prime Painter's Putty with an oil-based paint before painting with latex-based paints." Do I need to bother with this? I really don't want to add another step, or buy a quart of oil based primer.
I bought this 3 years ago. Its title on the can is Painter's Putty, and not Painter's Putty '53'. Is this a new product, or do I have the same?
Thanks,
Doug

What you have is close enough, but follow the directions.
You might contact a paint supply store and ask them if they have something latex compatible.

Plenty you can use, - - painter's putty, wood putty, water putty (my preference). Avoid caulk or spackle, - - too much 'shrinkage'. I prefer the shelf (truck) life of water putty, as it is not pre-mixed, and does not shrink. (And latex paint covers it well). Apply and then wipe with a damp sponge, no sanding necessary.
