Custom Fence

I just finished (mostly) a custom fence for a client that I'm fairly impressed with. Its all cedar...


There were also some small gates on the other side of the house and a bunch of chain link fence across the back.

Nice work.. what kind of wood is that? In one shot it looked like cedar and then the grain was coming through - looked like white oak??

haha..and some of the verts look like hem-fir

It is all cedar. I was suprised at how much difference there is in the color of the wood, but its all cedar. Pricy stuff too.

They originally wanted redwood, but I couldn't even order it in the quantities and dimensional stock I needed.

I am always overly critical of my own work and very conscious about the cost versus final product and was concerned about this project, but the client is VERY pleased... so I'm happy.

I still need to seal it and add new latches. I left one gate without a latch and the client called this morning and asked that I switch the other 2 as they aren't very visually appealing. No sweat. Another half day (or so) and I'm done completely.
