Day one, I drive up to an estimate. The owner told me it's a two story, but I only brought my 16' ladder. OOps. I measured by the ground (flat roof) but decided I should come back and get on the roof.

Day two, I come with my 28' footer, just the right length. I get up and am awed at the shotty job that was done... that's another story though. I measure the roof again and look around for awhile counting soil pipes satelite dishes etc...

I get back to the office and sit down to figure the math no measurements. No length or width. I measured twice amd didn;t write the numbers down once. I think it's 50' x 90' but guessing isn't good enough. Time for trip three.

haha. I've done the same type thing once. I went and met with a homeowner after talking for quite awhile on the phone. We went quickly through the plans - they were fairly conceptual in nature. The family lived far away - over 2 hour drive. Anyway we started talking about other things off topic - common interests in logging etc. So I get up and tell them that I'll get a rough estimate for them for budgeting purposes only. I drive back and as I'm walking back into the office.. .doh.. I forgot the drawings at their house. So I call them - they say well we need to come into town for some things and we'll call you. They come to town and it ends up getting pretty late so I call them - they forgot the plans at home. I finally got the plans and it turned out to be a very successful project.. but started out as a pain.
