Hello to all. I'm new to the forum. I was wondering if anyone on here has had any experiences with metal framed houses, such as Heritage Buildings ? The wife and I are considering this as we would be able to do some of the work ourselves, and be more in control of the building procedure. We are also concerned about the expense, and design of a floor joist system, if we wanted to have a basement. Any thoughts or comments would be great. Thanks, Randy

Welcome to the forum! Unfortunately I have no experience framing with the new light weight metal profiles but I am sure someone involved with the forum can help you. I may be able to help you with your floor system though.

Thanks for your response. I thought I was doing the right thing by posting all my three different, yet specified questions to each indavidual forum index subjects. I clicked on all three of the links you posted but couldnt really find any answers to any of my questions. After talking to my wife we realized that this might not be the right place to talk about steel (taboo ?) housing. I didnt want to offend anyone by asking these questions. Please let me know if there is a site that you know of that people talk about steel houses. I did some google searching but havnt had very good luck. I'm not very much of a computer whiz. Thanks for trying to help. Randy

Heck ask away.

Some of us old carpenters hate to hear it but metal is going to be a standard practice before too much longer anyway.

Sorry, the links at the bottom of my posts are part of my signature (some shameless plugs for my own stuff). I will poke around and see what I can come up with for you in the way of steel construction info.
