Hello,
I am in the process of framing a room addition, and I have a question about how to include frieze blocks. My plans include an open eave construction, with frieze blocks installed. The walls are already framed, with T1-11 siding in place. I am little fuzzy on how to configure the frieze blocks. Are the frieze blocks the same depth as the rafters? Or are they deeper than the rafters so that they cover the top of the siding? If they are deeper than the rafters, then are they face nailed to the top plate? I ask these questions partly because my building inspector is very picky about the nailing pattern and I have a shear nailing inspection coming up. He indicated that he wanted to see the frieze blocking, but he also wants to see the edge & field nailing of the T1-11. So if the frieze blocking does overlap the top of the siding/top plate, how will he see the edge nailing at the top of the wall?
