Hi , I would like to find out how much is expensive to buil new garage 20x24, with roof pitch 10/12 to get some attic space through hidding steps.Walls propably 2x6 , becouse I dont know if I can do it from 2x4 here in COLORADO (BECOUSE THE BUILDING Code)Cealing hight 9 feet,garage door 16x8, 3 windows.About foundation I am not sure what is cheaper , monolitic foundation or footings with stem walls and slab?I would do the work mostly myself.Please anyone could you give me idea how much should I expect. 2x4 is ok in Colorado - although I would do 2x6.
Off the cuff I would say you're looking at between 25 and 35 / sf.
Monolithic slab is quite a bit cheaper.

Do your monolithic slabs have to be designed with an integral grade beam? We have to if we exceed 600 squ ft.

Good point - I think it does in CO... but I've only done one in CO and it's way over designed.. :)
Davidson - you'll probably want to talk to your building department regarding that.

The reason I brought it up is with the price of steel now you may actually save money putting in a frost wall instead. There's at least a ton of rebar in an engineered grade beam that large.

Thank you very much for your replays,I will go for 2x6, so I can put there better insulation.And I'll do more research with foundations. Thank you again David
