Im about to start putting up rafters on a gable roof on a shed with a 4/12 pitch. any tips or suggestions that will make the job easier or faster?

Yep. Do a layout on the floor first. Just do one half of the shed as that's all that's really needed to get a pattern. Draw out your top plate and over to the centerline of the ridge board. Then go up the distance you want and draw in half of your ridge board. Connect those two elements with a diagonal line, lay your 1x4 or 2x4 pattern down and copy the lines onto it. You now have a perfect pattern for cutting all your rafters. Just cut two to start with, then test fit.

If you want it to go faster then gang cut the rafters.

This is the technique I picked up from Americans who use this, and other forums.

I can now cut rafters in a quarter of the time it used to take me and far more accurately too!
