Anyone here do 'insurance jobs'? Is it 'standard' for the contractor to pay the claims adjuster a 10% 'referral fee'? Supposedly he puts it all right on paper. Still don't sound right/fair. He's already getting paid. I don't plan on getting involved anyway, but now I'm curious.

I don't give kick backs but I pay referral fees quite regularly... but there are actual referrals.

Chicago was built on kickbacks and bribes. Kickbacks aren't legal and I know here if you bid on any govt work you are required to fill out a form that says youve never been convicted of any bidding crimes, under penalty of purgery. Now if you lie on these forms you get to go to jail for perjury. If you don't lie on the forms, and you have been convicted of bid tampering, your bid gets put on the bottom of the stack.

Thanks, Grump, - - yeah, Chicago's probably the kickback Capital. Just trying to find out if this is really, - - 'standard' for insurance work. I won't get involved with anything illegal, - - but he says it will be put right on paper, so I'm not worried about that. Seems like an awful high 'referral fee' (on top of full time pay, no less). Maybe I'll become an adjuster so I too, can 'double-dip'. I've never really gotten involved in insurance work, and doubt very highly that I would now, - - but the whole issue did at least 'peak' my curiousity. Anyone else familiar?

Ah, insurance and kickbacks.

Yeah, it is common.

This homey don't play that.
