Wire mesh or rebar?

Does it matter whether you use wire mesh or rebare when pouring slabs for garage floors, driveways, or basement floors? If so which is the best to use?

It really depends on what strength you want in the slab. I've used 6x6 wire mesh and #4 rebar. Of course the rebar is stronger and used mostly for driveways for heavier vehicles. If it's just a standard driveway I think the wire mesh would be just fine - you may want to add fiber mesh also. And that goes for the basement slabs also.
