View Full Version : Pergo care?
The description of this forum mentions Pergo, but I didn't see any posts about it... can anyone suggest the best way to care for Pergo? ...what to use to clean & what not to use... best way to protect it from furniture, etc... Thanks :)
Pergo is about as indestructable as any material I've ever seen (well maybe not any material) - but truly tough. We put some in a friends place - big dog - long toenails - loves to run across and slide on Pergo.. no problems never even a scratch.
Almost any non-abrasive cleaner will work.

No maintenance required. I use pergo cleaning solution once in a while.
Don't use bleach! It's dog friendly (I have golden retriever).
I used furniture pads for added protection.
BTW, IKEA laminate floor (made in Germany) is manufactured by the same company that supplies to Pergo. It's thiner, but costs less than Pergo.

You need to be carful though because it will chip. Dropping heavy items can cause cracks and chips in the edges.
My wife cleans regularly with regular cleaning suppies and it looks great after several years.
plunkinberry,
what kind of cleaning supplies do you use? while I'm more daring, my significant other is not... ;)
We're still moving in and the previous owner left a bottle of pergo cleaning solution & we have yet to try that, so my post was a little premature...
As for protection, we've felted everything just to be safe. I understand that it's durable, but the felt also makes it easy to move the heavy furniture, which makes me happy when she wants to see the couch against that wall, or the bed over there...... ;)
**edited to add that we love to watch the cats chase each other around and slide across the room :P
