I'm thinking about putting a man door in an unfinished garage wall and need a little advice.

The wall doesn't have osb. It has some other kind of thin yellowish foamboard on 2x4 16" center studs. the floor is a slab at or about grade then a ~3" conrete foundation, a PT soleplate then the wall. First off, can I even frame a door or window into the wall since it isn't sheeted in OSB? Assuming I can, what do I do for the threshhold? I don't think I should cut out the foundation to let water flow into the garage, so does the rough opening for the door start at the soleplate? above the sole plate? If the bottom of the rough opening is the sole plate, I assume I would pour a little slab on the outside, but I would still have a little step (3" foundation, 1.5" soleplate, threshhold). Do I just build a little ramp? What do the big boys do when they put a door in from a slab at grade?

I did this very thing when I first purchased my home. Dumb not to have a side door in a garage.
Anyway - my garage had homasote for sheathing - another dumb idea IMO. We also had the foundation extending up 3" with a sill plate. If I had had the time I would've probably cut the foundation down to be at slab height. You will want to cut the sill plate down so the threshold sits solid on the concrete. I will build a little porch with a single step down to the ground eventually.
