Hi, my blower bearings need replaced. I have some bronze shavings appearing on one side and all the nice sounds that come with it. I noticed on both sides the blower shaft spins freely through the sleeves. Aren't the bearings supposed to spin freely or are these bronze sleeves just guides to hold the shaft. I've oiled the ports every year since I've lived here but the unit is from the 60's. I find it hard to believe that both sides are ceased, is this the case? thanks

Most likely.
Up here in Canada we would be on our second or third or maybe even fourth furnace in that period of time. Lottsa use.

Alway replace both bearings, rubber sleeves and shaft. If one bearing wears, it will cause wear on the other and scar the shaft.
