So I told you all that I accepted a position with this builder. I accepted the position on Nov. 16, and the guy told me that he was going out of town the next day so to sit tight until he got back, on Nov. 29. Nov. 29 comes and goes, and I don't hear anything. Now try and keep up.... On Dec. 1 I emailed him (that's the primary way we had been communicating) just to check in and see if he was back, etc. Nothing. On Dec. 7 I call the office to make sure he's not out of town again, and the secretary says he left for the day but will be back tomorrow. OK, so he's here and probably read his email. I send another email, saying I hadn't heard from him and wanted to make sure he got my email, just to reply telling me he got my email. Nothing. On Dec. 17, I call and leave a message saying that I'm eager to set a start date, I had been unable to contact him, and to let me know if anything had changed. I emailed the same thing. Still nothing. I know that he is able to screen his calls through his phone, so it's possible he's just not taking my calls. What else can I do? This is so frustrating, it's not like I just accepted an interview, I ACCEPTED THE JOB THAT HE OFFERED TO ME. What could have happened, and why is he not getting back to me. Is it possible he's just to busy? Any input from you builders who have hired before? Is it time to just give up on it?

Sorry that happened to you, woodall, - - that is just as 'lame' as it gets, - -playing with someone's life like that.
Sounds to me like he either decided not to fill the position, - - or gave the job to someone else, - - but that's just my guess.
What isn't a guess is that this guy is obviously a totally inconsiderate &^%$@$^&&%$#, - - and that no matter what his 'real' problem is, - - it sure doesn't sound like someone you would enjoy working for.
I would chalk it up to experience and move on. Good Luck.

Thanks Tom. I know you're right, I'm just in denial. I wanted this really bad, it was my "in" into the industry.
Whatever happened, at least have the decency to tell me...
Woodall, that sucks man. Im sorry that happened to you, and I agree with Tommy!!!

Whoa, there, guys, although I am just as tempted to bad-mouth the guy, - - this is an open public forum, - - although it may be well deserved in this particular case, we have no real way of knowing how accurate the information may be in the next case, - - so we would therefore tend to possibly be bad-mouthing some potentially innocent people (publicly) on mere 'hearsay'. There are two sides to every story, - - and we would always be taking the side of the first side to complain. Our being wrong even once out of 100 times would still be 100% unfair to the innocent recipient.

Sorry, just got carried away in the situation. Understand totally Tom, which is why I didn't post the info, just where to find it
Tom, thank you for knocking me upside the head.
Woodall, as Midnight said I was excited for you also and it really sucks how it turned out. Im sorry!!!

No, that's alright guys, it's completely understandable, - - we've all been (and still are) 'pulling' for woodall from the very beginning. It's just that, unfortunately, I don't think there's a real lot that we, or anyone, for that matter can do about this 'ignoramus'. I mean let's face it, it took this guy all his life to become this ignorant, - - so we're never gonna change him anyway. Time to move on and let Karma sweep up the mess. And I believe it will.

Thanks guys!!
Tom's right, I don't want to leave bad blood in my tracks. And it's true, I don't know what really happened. I may be the dumb one on this one, but I don't know if he called me today that I wouldn't take the job. I'd like to think I had some sense and would say no way, but it's such a huge opportunity...
Anyway, no bashing for now guys, but thanks. Look forward to me getting more advice from you guys in the future.

If you are anywhere near Chicago and want to do residential sales, I will teach you everything you need to know. Come work for me.
Yeah - if you're still looking in March/April and want to move to Montana - I'll give you a job :)
