Does this thing totally suck or is it just me? I got one at HD with the extension to drill inside a wall from the attic above. I used a wired 3/8" Ryobi for a half hour and got maybe half way through a diagonal support beam. Sometimes it would get stuck and the drill/extension section would just spin and I'd have to stop to get it loose. I nearly started a friction fire with this piece of crap. No, I wasn't drilling in reverse. I spent $70 on this setup and returned it. Anyone have any luck with them or have a better solution? We just gave up on it and drilled a diagonal hole through a hole in the wall. I'd like to have a better solution. The reach was great, but it drilled like a butter knife.

Well, if yours has the self feed point on it, I would think maybe you are drilling too fast. I'm only guessing. I happen to have a 6 foot one which doesn't have the self feed bit on it and I too find it to be a pain in the but though it eventually works. A friend of mine sharpened it with a file and it worked a lot better even though I had only used it a couple of times before that. I use it (or tried to use it) for running T stat wires. I would make a hole in a persons drywall at the 5 foot mark then feed the drill bit down and try to drill through the bottom plate and the sub floor. One time the drill bit popped out into the adjacent room ( without me knowing it ) and drilled a perfect 3/8" hole in a mirror finish hardwood floor. I plugged the hole and it became a knot. I never did see the owner.. Thank god.

hahaha. I wouldn't want to be that owner. Shame on you :P

Ok, so the thing works for you? Yeah, I had the screw point on the end. My friend said that it probably should have been sharper. I may try again with it unless someone has a better suggestion. You ever use the extension for it?
