Table 308.5-Hanger Spacing
It has different spacing for "Copper or copper-alloy pipe" and "Copper or copper-alloy tubing"
What's the difference between pipe and tubing? Is it just the connectors?[/code]
I believe pipe is type M, K, or L (rigid) and Tubing is soft pipe. Would imagine the spacing is greater for pipe?

12 for pipe, 10 for tubing greater than 1 1/2 and 6 for tubing less than 1 1/4 (feet)
Where do they draw the line for soft pipe, or do they just not make an ambiguous product like that?

Piping comes in lengths and is measured inside diameter and tubing comes in rolls and is measures outside diameter. 5/8 tubing is the same as 1/2 pipe.

Ah, ok. Is there any chance of confusing the two (say, if it's alreay installed)?

I don't know what you mean by confusing. Tubing, because it comes in a roll, even when straightened, never looks as straight as piping. Half inch tubing looks smaller than half inch piping. They are the same colour.
Confusing? not to me.
