We just moved in to our house after a 3 month addition, and during our walk-thru last week we complained about the porcelain tile in the kitchen. It has been determined that the tile was very poorly installed and needs to be replaced. This is going to create a major mess, and this is after we have moved all of our stuff into the house. My question is, is the GC responsible for recleaning the house, ductwork, and our belongings after the floor tile is done being replaced? Or is his responsibility just to replace our floor and it is our responsibility to clean everything back up again? Hope somebody can help me.

Thanks

Dave

Typically this is outlined in the contract with something like "Contractor will leave house in a broom clean state upon completion". If it's not outlined there he should do it anyway. At a minimum they should give due diligence of covering (with tape) air registers and protecting adjacent finishes. As I said, if it's not stated in the contract, the GC should do it anyway for client satisfaction.
That's my .02 anyway.

Thanks for your help. That would be my thought as well.
