View Full Version : over head service
Is there any technacalities to installing a meter main base for 200 amp service or is it pretty much as straight forward as it seems? A seperate meter box and main breaker box are being replaced with a meter main box. do the two hot wires coming into the metermain have to go to a specific lug or can they be switched? I know they can't be crossed with the neutral. Also, are there any specifications or requrements for the drip head and conduit running to the box? Can it be pvc or any other type of matereial and does it have to be a specific size?
thank you

I can tell ya what applies here, but you'd really need to check with your local code official or power supplier for specifics in YOUR area, as they may be different...
The two hot legs incoming may go on either lug....and you are correct, don't mistake it and put on the neutral lug.
The riser conduit may be schedule 40 PVC or rigid steel, 2" in diameter IF you stay under the roof line and have an eyebolt in the fascia running thru two or more rafters to connect the service pull to.....if you go above the roof, 2 1/2" rigid steel only since the conduit will have the service pulled to it.
Weatherheads are of the same material and size to fit the conduit.
