I just purchased quickbooks premier contractor 2005 on ebay for about 150 less than retail. I should've probably just gotten 2004 - another couple hundred cheaper - as 2005 doesn't give all that much more than 2004. But figured I would start out with the most current version.
For most companies Quickbooks is more than adequate IMO.

I agree, however it is a steep learning curve. Trouble is, I'm only driving a Chevy, not a Porche.

At least it's a Chevy :)
Yeah - I've been reading that damn book that came with it. It started as what I thought was going to be a refresher course (been about 5 years since I've worked with it) and it's turned into creating an Excel module for tracking production and creating estimates - as quickbooks estimating functions quite frankly suck.

Thanks for the info, I was thinking about upgrading to "Pro" AS for learning, I am going to go for training as well

If you buy on ebay, keep in mind these companies, Intuit, Peachtree etc, only support 2 or 3 versions back so don't but too old a copy
