I'm not aware of how you size those units but I've never seen one in the attic. Because they have filters in them they should be checked regularly so they should be in an easy location. Most of the one I see are all located beside the furnace.

Holy tabernac! I would think in Montreal, inside an attic, with hot and cold air passing each other in the heat exchanger part of the unit you would get condensation. And where you are BIG problems. That is how those things work. Most people think that all that cold air is being pulled in and all that hot air is blown out. In theory in the heat exchanger ( which is why they call it a "heat exchanger") The heat going out is given to the cold air coming in is EXCHANGED!!

we say tab"a"rnac..., you would be right , that's maybe why in my freind's basement there's often condensation on the windows, and it's a new house with the r-2000.

Furnace blowers do not have the HP needed to take the extra static pressure drop from a HEPA filter. Exactly what is the application you are looking at?

If you want ease of maintenance and installation check out the models from Broan.
