Please excuse my ignorance. Can anyone tell me the common method of placing basement windows in foundation walls? I'm interested in Kewanee vinyl sliding window that are designed to fit into their pour-in-place frame (either steel or alum) for foundation walls. Do you first place the pour-in-place frame into place before concrete pour? Do you place window in place within pour-in-place frame after framing is complete?
If all is correct then good! Then what about placement of pour-in-place frame, can it be placed so that the lower and both vertical sides are within concrete foundation and its top flange directly under sill plates? Or does the pour-in-place frame has to be enveloped within concrete?
What type of windows do you fellas prefer for basement windows (not full egress sizes)? Such as regular type of windows within foundation using wood sills or specialized foundation windows? Can you explain why? How do you trim out on the outside if using regular windows within foundation and wood sills?
Also, if using pour-in-place frames, which material is recommended, steel or aluminum? Thanks for being patient!
