HEllo, I recently had a bay window removed and installed french doors. The footing for the window sticks out about a foot from the door. I would like to put steps from the door to a patio. What is the best way to deal with the footing since it is a concrete footing with wood flooring on top, and directly below the wood there is no support? If I remove the wood, I would see dirt I beleive. If I remove the footing, There would be no bottom support for the door. Yes, I should have thought of this before I put in the door. But what do I do now?

My suggestion would be to remove the concrete. That is as long as there is a foundation under the wall. If there is no wall I would suggest to remove a couple of inches of the concrete and put in a regular wood stair. From your description you could probably put a landing from the door out to the concrete and then attach your stair to the concrete - that would probably be the best solution.
