ok... my son is doing a trim job usin the homeowners plastic or foam crown molding.
he usually miters and copes the inside corners, but says this stuff is melting just from the coping saw.
any suggestions?
With plastic trim there's not really any reason to cope - some good flexible caulk will be plenty. I can't imagine it melting from the coping saw though - maybe the miter saw. As long as the face stays clean the back should be able to be cleaned up with an offset grinder.

Yeah, - - that is a little hard to fathom.
If you mean he's using a miter saw, - - tell him to cut through faster, - - and pull the piece away the second the blade is through.
If he's melting it using a coping saw, - - just take away his coffee pot!!

thats what i said too... with the coping saw??? but he said that when making the tight turns of the profile, it melts it, and then he said, dad, you know how you get burn marks on the wood when you make tight turns. so i guess its possible.

Yet another reason to never touch the stuff.
