I have no real question here, just need to vent.
Got the quote for plumbing my remodel today.
I think I'm going to have to forgo electricical, insulation, sheetrock, trim, and appliances to pay for it. Maybe food and water too.
The cost is twice my high-side estimate.
Think I need to find a new plumber.

Heck, it ain't rocket science.....do it yourself. Overpriced labor( and a worse sin in my book....crappy quality labor) has put a lot of hats on my shelf over the years.
I ran the sheetrockers off my job 3 houses ago because all they were doing was coming in smoking dope, wasting my material ( hung a sheet BACKWARDS......brown paper side out.....can you believe it ? ) and asking when they could "get a draw"......( How 'bout after you DO SOME WORK ! ).......I'd sub it back in a heartbeat IF the price was reasonable and I didn't have to go thru and pick up 4x7' sheets of "scrap".

Limits to what I can do. Plus, I really don't want to tackle the DWV side of this project. Supply is no sweat (or all sweat, assuming copper :) ).
The company I got the quote from is very, very, very good. I've seen a lot of their work, and they've done a lot of very high-end work for some really picky clients of my brother-in-law's firm.
I was expecting it to be expensive, and was prepared to accept high labor rates, but the price I got was way beyond my wildest expectations.

Vector, - - call someone else.
Your DWV system ain't gonna be on a magazine cover.
Bein' the 'best' isn't always a good thing.
I consider myself a 'top-notch' carpenter, - - but if you call me in to build you a chicken coop, - - you're gonna have to pay my rate.
You're getting charged for what they're 'capable' of, - - yet you're asking for so much less.
