Is there a rule of thumb for installing dummy knobs vs entry knobs?
I have some dummy knobs on closet doors etc. that are getting loose after 3 months. I think I have masonite doors. Should I change to entry knobs on the doors that are loose? Thanks

A dummy knob is a knob that has no working mechanism. It's basically there for looks. I suppose you could use a mechanized knob in place of a dummy, but you would leave out the mechanized unit so there's no point. Of course, if your door is set up with a latch port then it is probably a mechanized door and would use that type of knob.

ah, hollow core doors and someone screwed the screws in too tight, stripping them out.

Remove the screw and fill the hole with wood glue or construction adhesive. Screw it back in and check it tomorrow.
