I have read through the messages in the Project Estimating and had a ballpark figure in mind but when the builder quoted me $110 per square foot for a 368 square foot garage I thought the bid was very high. To be fair the builder does do custom homes but I'm talking a basic garage here - just an 18x20 box basically with a gable roof. This $40k+ quote was only for the garage it self - there were additional charges for foundation/slab, permits, etc.
What are your thoughts please? This is in Stafford, VA.
Thanks
$110 a sf for a basic garage. That is crazy, he is way high.

Thanks Cole! That is what I figured too. From reading other posts sounds like $25-35 would be more in the ballpark. I would like a deep sink and HVAC in the garage but can't imagine it would add that much per square foot. The garage will be an addition to the existing garage attached to my house so they will have to blow out one wall but still....

That would get me more in the ballpark of what I was thinking. I'll be calling the builder back today to discuss the estimate - I already let him know that I thought the build rate per sq/ft was too high for a pretty basic stick framed garage.
Thanks Cole!
