Can someone tell me the differences?
CPVC is rated for higher temperature ranges and some other things I'm sure.

Yes, the cpvc is rated for higher temps. Keep in mind that the pipe dimensions are different. Fittings for pvc are not compatible with cpvc.
And neither is the primer and glue.

isn't there multipurpose glue for it though? the guy we have do our stuff only uses the multipurpose glue since he mixes types when he needs to. Is there a problem with that?
Yes you can get glue rated for cpvc and pvc - just make sure and check what you buy. There is no problem as long as it's rated for it.

i think cpvc is used for potable water , whereas pvc is just for waste and vent.

If there's no problem with having multipurpose glue for everything, why make the specialized glues, and who uses them anyway?
Some people are purists.. :)

YEAH RIGHT. I tried using combo glue (PVC/ABS) on ABS. Every 3" joint and most 2" joints leaked like a sieve. I have no experiece with CPVC, but I can only recommend to use the right tool for the job...

I hope pvc can be used for potable water because I'm using pvc from my well to my house. I think, and I may be wrong, that the main difference between cpvc and pvc is in the temp ratings.

In addition to the higher temp ratings, CPVC has smoother walls and is therefore more desirable in areas with higher mineral contents in the water, - - but at the same time it has raised some eyebrows about concerns of possible 'leaching' of some of it's chemical content into your water supply.
